Apart from a zero-emission engine, the vehicle also gets a more masculine and sportier styling.
The lines and proportions of the 2012 Beetle concept are quite in keeping with the current slew of European hot hatches and superminis. In fact from some angles it takes on a sort of Alfa Romeo MiTo / Renault Clio hybrid appearance.
